Sunday Morning Sermon | September 13, 2026

Don’t Give Up on God

When the road is difficult and answers seem delayed, it can be tempting to lose heart. In this hope-filled message, Pastor Jeff Houston reminds us that God sees every struggle, remains present in every storm, and gives His people strength to keep moving forward.

Keep Going When You Feel Weary

Pastor Jeff begins with Paul’s encouragement in Galatians 6:9: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Paul understood how exhausting spiritual battles can become. Yet his instruction is clear: do not allow pressure, disappointment, or delay to derail your faith.

Life brings seasons of family trouble, financial pressure, health concerns, grief, and unanswered questions. Following God does not mean we will never face a valley. It means we can continue through the valley with confidence that God is refining us, working in us, and accomplishing purposes we may not yet see.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9

Trust God’s Timing

“Due season” reminds us that God works according to His perfect timing. We may not understand why a prayer has not yet been answered or why a difficult season continues, but delay does not mean that God is absent. Pastor Jeff challenges us to keep praying, keep believing, keep putting God first, and trust that He is still working even when He seems silent.

Waiting is not passive. It is a daily decision to place our lives in God’s hands, hold on to His promises, and continue doing what He has called us to do. The God who has carried us this far will give us the strength to take the next step.

You Are Not Alone in the Storm

Hebrews 13:5 contains one of Scripture’s most reassuring promises: “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” God is not watching our battles from a distance. He knows what lies ahead, goes before us, and remains beside us in the crisis.

Pastor Jeff also points to Deuteronomy 31:8, where Israel was encouraged before entering an unknown land. The Lord would go before them, remain with them, and never abandon them. That same truth gives believers courage today. Whatever you are facing, Jesus is present, His promises are reliable, and you do not have to carry the burden alone.

“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Hebrews 13:5

Let Gratitude Change Your Perspective

The message shares the testimony of Joni Eareckson Tada, whose life as a quadriplegic has required profound dependence on God and the help of others. Her perspective challenges us to recognize the blessings we can easily overlook and to ask a better question in hardship: “How can I glorify God and be a blessing in this situation?”

Gratitude does not pretend that pain is easy. It redirects our attention from what we lack to the faithfulness God has already shown. Even in weakness, His grace is sufficient, and He can use our lives to encourage others.

Your Story Is Not Finished

Abraham waited for God’s promise. Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, false accusation, and prison before seeing God’s plan unfold. David faced a giant with the assurance that God was with him. Their stories remind us that a difficult chapter is not the end of the story.

God can bring purpose from disappointment and beauty from what presently looks like a mess. Your responsibility is not to understand every detail today. It is to keep walking with Jesus, keep your confidence in His Word, and refuse to give up.

A Simple Challenge for This Week

  • Keep doing good, even when you feel tired or discouraged.
  • Keep praying, even when the answer has not arrived.
  • Keep trusting God’s character and timing.
  • Practice gratitude for the ways God is sustaining you today.
  • Remember His presence: you are not facing this alone.
