What It Means to Walk With God Every Day
What does it truly mean to walk with God? Is it something reserved for Sundays and church services, or should it shape every part of our lives?
In this challenging sermon from Clayton First Assembly of God, we study the life of Enoch through Genesis 5:18–24, Hebrews 11:5–6, and the Book of Jude. Enoch lived in a deeply troubled and sinful society, but he chose a different path. The Bible simply tells us that Enoch walked with God.
A Daily Relationship With God
Walking with God means more than occasionally thinking about Him. It describes the direction, conduct, and pattern of a person’s life. Enoch did not walk with God only when it was convenient. He lived in fellowship with God every day.
That kind of relationship requires us to include God in everything we experience. We talk to Him in prayer, listen for His direction, study His Word, and allow biblical truth to guide our decisions.
Living to Please God
Hebrews tells us that Enoch had a testimony that he pleased God. His greatest concern was not gaining the approval of the world. His desire was to live in a way that honored the Lord.
The sermon challenges each of us to ask an important question: Does the way I live match the Word of God? Walking in the light means being honest about sin, bringing it before God, and allowing Him to cleanse and change us.
Walking by Faith, Not by Sight
Enoch’s walk was a walk of faith. He trusted God even though the people and culture around him were moving in another direction. In the same way, believers today are called to view life through the lens of faith rather than being controlled by appearances, fear, or popular opinion.
Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Walking with Him requires us to believe that He is real, that His Word is true, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
Slow Down and Refocus
Life can become so busy that we lose our spiritual focus. The sermon encourages us to slow down long enough to hear God’s voice and recognize His direction. Prayer, Scripture, worship, and daily surrender help bring our attention back to what matters most.
Enoch’s life reminds us that it is possible to remain faithful even when the world around us is not. We can choose to walk in the light, reject the enemy’s distractions, and live each day with the desire to please God.
